Advanced Product Information

securus is made up of three major elements

The Agent

A lightweight program, the ‘Agent’ sits on devices on a network and checks user activity against a library of keywords, phrases and terms. Once an undesired activity is identified by matching against the library a screen shot is taken and an alert sent to designated safeguarding staff.

The Vault

The Vault is a highly secure environment where word and phrase matches and associated screen shots are automatically stored in an encrypted format. Details of date and time; user; name of computer and other relevant evidential information are also stored along with the screen capture itself.

Terms and Categories

securus has a proprietary Library of keywords and phrases (known as Terms). Terms in the securus Library are compiled by professionals from within the online safety, safeguarding and law enforcement sectors as well as from feedback from our many thousands of existing customers. The Library is reviewed monthly to ensure that it is always up to date with the latest trends and risks.

The Library is split into several different tagged categories. Tags cover different areas of concern and allow administrators to group violations in effective bundles. Categories include such areas as:

  • Cyberbullying
  • Attempts to reach banned websites
  • Viewing explicit images or files
  • Child sexual exploitation
  • Faith/gender/racial discrimination and abuse
  • Teenage relationship abuse
  • Sexting
  • Potential suicide or self-harm
  • Radicalisation and extremism
  • Hacking
  • Gambling
  • Drug use
  • Weapons
  • Gangs

For terms that are not included within the securus base library, Custom libraries can be added. These libraries may contain terms, slang, local dialect or specific threats relevant to each establishments specific environment and need to be uploaded in CSV file format.
